APPROVAL OF CASTALDI APPLICATION FOR BUILDING 6 AT ENGLEWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Description
Permission from the Florida Department of Education to demolish and then rebuild school facilities is a three-step process: (1) a Spot Survey for permission to renovate or replace; (2) a Castaldi application; and (3) a final Spot Survey for permission to demolish and rebuild. For the Englewood Building 6 Replacement project, which entails demolishing building 6 and replacing it with a new structure on the same building footprint, the first step was accomplished as part of the 2016 Five Year Plant Survey. The Castaldi step now involves preparation of a packet proving that it is more economical to rebuild than to renovate.
Recommendation
That the School Board approves submission of the Castaldi application to the Florida Department of Education for Building 6 at Englewood Elementary School.
